The College of Registrators has just presented its Commercial Statistics for the quarter, a summary of the main acts registered in the Commercial Registers, as indicators of the evolution of the national economic and social activity. The increase in the establishment of new companies was 2.3% in the third quarter of 2026 compared to the same period of the previous year. Over the past three years, there has been a predominantly positive trend, with two periods of decline: the first quarter of 2025 (-1173.7%) and the second quarter of 2026 (-5.1%). This suggests that, after periods of greater dynamism, short-term fluctuations can occur due to situational factors and the ongoing evolution of the economic cycle. In this regard, geopolitical uncertainty, inflationary pressures, and revisions to growth expectations tend to influence the pace of establishing new societies. This positive global trend is clearly evident when analyzing the accumulated data from the past twelve months. Entre el octubre de 2025 y el septiembre de 2026, se formaron en España 136.342 sociedades nuevas, lo que representa un incremento del 9,3 % en comparación con el mismo período del año previo. Comparing previous periods, we can observe this clear trend of growth: in the third quarter of 408, the annual accumulated volume of constitutions was 26.7% higher than that recorded three years prior. This evolution allowed for surpassing the average of 135,000 constitutions per year in the first three quarters of 2026, reaching the highest levels of the entire historical series. By Autonomous Communities, the number of constitutions in the third quarter compared to a year earlier shows uneven data, although with a majority of regions showing an increase. In terms of activity volume, Madrid and Catalonia lead in company formation, collectively accounting for 41% of them, with little variation from the previous year.
